about

All tracks are first take improvisations recorded in 1980. These are ideas that could have spawned full blown pieces but instead have laid dormant in the archive for 40 years. For some of the tracks, I have segued different improvisations together to form a longer piece. Due to the age and nature of the recordings there are tape drop outs and the occasional glitch, etc. in places.

“Calling Down The Moon” includes the first improvisation of what was to become “Ascendant” on 1994’s “Matrix” album.

“Star Cycle” includes the first improvisation of the track that later appeared on 1986’s “New Horizon” album.

With thanks to Alexander Scriabin for the “fire chord” in “Amenekthon”.

“Sonic Portals” is part of a series of planned releases to make this 1980’s material available, continuing on from the 1970’s “Psychic Remnants” archive.
